Some words from me and others all about; books, publishing and general loveliness.
Being an Author is more about passion than technique. Well maybe!
Writing a book is not something everyone dreams of doing. But for those of us that do, it can seem a pretty daunting task. But when it’s there inside you, there sometimes is little choice but to just start. Since I started to write and publish, the questions I have...

Not you usual fantasy fare
I took the book along to read on my holidays and the book did not disappoint as I read it over a couple of days. I do enjoy fantasy novels but there is always some apprehension when starting a new series with whether you’ll like the authors style and pacing and ultimately the characters and world he’s creating.
In short, there was nothing to worry about in this regard for me as the story is paced quickly with new characters being introduced frequently throughout the book which makes it somewhat of a page turner. There are an awful lot of characters to pick up as you go and the story does frequently jump from character to character so you will need to pay attention to keep up with whose who.
The world the author creates and the themes throughout are thought provoking without being pretentious and it will give you some pause for thought at times. Overall by the end of the book I just wanted to see where the story went next with all the wonderful characters we’d been introduced to. If I had any critique it would probably be that no sooner did I finally “get” a number of the characters then the book was finished. Her’s hoping we get a sequel soon!

Looking forward to the next in the series
Colin creates great imagery with his descriptive writing which allows you to become immersed into the story. Really enjoyed learning about the different characters throughout the book and am looking forward to the next in the series.

A lively read!
Elji and the Galrass book 1
Firstly, I don’t read sci-fi though I do read fantasy. I would consider this novel to be a cross of both.
The prologue and beginning definitely hooked me in and I found myself quickly warming to the main character Elji and his plight. The author has been very imaginative in his thoughts and descriptions – the reader is provided with a powerful sense of place throughout. I would describe it as a very lively read – there are no ‘slow’ moments. I also liked the way in which he weaves his philosophy on humanity and its potential for good as well as evil. The story invites the reader to think about and connect with what is happening in the real world at present as well as down through time. At the end of the novel, the author has cleverly managed to allow the reader to feel satisfied with the conclusion as well as setting up the proposed sequel. I’m sure that having read book 1, you will feel compelled to continue reading the rest of the series.

A MYTHIC FANTASY TALE!
“Elji and the Galrass appealed to me as a light fantasy with Tolkienesque elements and some large-scale magic that reminded me of Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber. It wove together many familiar tropes in the genre – a boy with a destiny plucked from obscurity, a Manichean contest between forces of hope and darkness, magic artifacts and ancient civilizations. The story moved quickly in drawing the cast of characters together and immersing them in a detailed cosmology. As a tale within the fantasy genre, it hits the right notes, with brisk pacing and mythic world building. I felt that it stayed comfortably within the conventions of fantasy, but I recommend it for fans of the genre.”

What a place to be!
WOW! What can I say? It took me a week to read as I was just so so busy with work and meetings, but I got there eventually.
This was fantastic! It cruised along at a steady pace and it was never too much or too little. Fantastically written and everything was described so well I actually thought I was there. I don’t think I’d like to end up in that dark place of nothingness and pure black.
Elji is a 16 year old boy when he finds the galrass. He has a lot to learn and in the process he grows up and finds his love.
There are so many characters in the book I don’t know where to start, so I’ll just mention the ones that stood out to me. Saloora is definitely one of them. I loved her name, not the rather long one mind you, it just stood out and thought it was quite beautiful. And the fact for her it was love at first sight for herself and Bremen was just too cute!
Dregar was another that stood out, he is a traveller that moves about helping people, he will help them along towards their destiny if you like.
This is a very well thought out book and definitely comes from an amazing part of the imagination. I honestly can’t wait to get my hands on Volume 2 to see what happens next. It sounds like a very beautiful place to live!
